ARTIST STATEMENT
As a filmmaker, Tom is deeply inspired by nature and the human experience. Growing up in Kansas, he was surrounded by the vast and varied landscapes of the Great Plains, and this early exposure to the natural world instilled in him a sense of wonder and respect for the environment.
He has since made his home in Montana, a state known for its rugged beauty and abundance of outdoor recreation opportunities. The mountains, forests, and rivers have provided a constant source of inspiration for his work as a filmmaker, and he strives to capture the beauty and grandeur of these natural settings in his films.
Tom’s interests as a filmmaker go beyond just capturing the beauty of the natural world however. He is also driven to explore the human experience and the ways in which people interact with and are shaped by their environment and their community. His films seek to delve into the complexities of the human condition, and to offer a deeper understanding of the world and the people who inhabit it.
Tom aims to bring the heart of a story to the forefront using subtle but effective and creative techniques that encourage the audience to engage with the story and create a more emotional connection with the diverse subjects of his work. He believes that through the power of storytelling, we can all learn more about ourselves and the world around us, and that by sharing these stories with others, we can create a more compassionate and connected society.
ABOUT TOM
Tom is a multi-talented artist who works as a film producer, director, cinematographer, editor, and still photographer. He was born in Wichita, Kansas and now resides in Missoula, Montana. He has a background in outdoor education, having worked as a backcountry instructor and river guide. In 2016, he received a BFA in Media Arts and Digital Video Production from the University of Montana.
Tom’s films have been showcased at several prestigious film festivals, including The Big Sky Doc Film Fest, Banff Mountain Film Fest, 5Point Film Fest, EarthX, and Mountainfilm.
Tom is proud to collaborate with other production teams and agencies such as North6, SOVRN, Joiin TV, Magic Lemonade, Where The Buffalo Roam TV, Q Media, 408 Productions, Outlaw Partners and Big Cedar Media.
